Earth Day - Day of Service - April 22

Join the Deerfield Club of the Rockies as we combine with other Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado to build a new trail in the Rocky Mountain National Wildlife Refuge!

REGISTER HERE on the Deerfield Day of Service page (scroll to bottom).

About the Stewardship Site:
Located on the site of a former weapons manufacturing facility, the 15,000-acre Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (Arsenal NWR) is now one of the largest urban refuges in the nation. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the area is home to more than 330 animal species, including bison, deer and coyotes, bald eagles and other raptors.

About the Volunteer Experience:
This project is taking place on a very special day - Earth Day! At VOC, we believe there's no better way to celebrate our earth than by digging in the dirt and giving Colorado a little TLC (Trail Loving Care). In honor of Earth Day, VOC will work with the City and County of Denver and the Arsenal NWR to construct 6,600 feet of new trail along First Creek. Volunteers ages 10 and up will build the trail by hauling and spreading an aggregate material known as "crusher fine." Tasks will be easy-to-moderate in difficulty.

About the Overall Impact:
The Arsenal NWR's eastern boundary is accessible to numerous local residents but has few amenities. Now, you have the opportunity to help the area become a valuable open space where thousands of people can gather, play and experience Colorado's great outdoors!

NOTE: MINORS ON VOC PROJECTS
Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older on single-day projects.

Three upcoming events! Feb 18, Mar 7 and Apr 22!

DA Club of the Rockies is revving into high gear!

Look for an email for tickets to DU men's lacrosse when they host DUKE on February 18th.  We would love to have a strong turnout as we welcome recent DA grad Chris Sullivan '16 to the Denver lax team.  Note also that Duke has two DA grads on their team: Joey Manown '16 and Teddy Henderson '13!  Hope we can get that picture....

March 7 is the official Deerfield event that typically happens every three years in our area.  You should have received and email - even so - here's the link to register.  Cocktails at the Museum of Contemporary art and a chance to meet new Athletic Director Bob Howe!

April 22 is the national Day of Service - so plan to spend your Saturday with fellow alumni and friends making a difference!  Details to follow.
